The Rec

Affectionately known as "The Rec," the Kenilworth-Parkside Recreation Center provides a comprehensive range of programs and activities designed to promote the emotional, social and physical well-being of older adults and seniors. It offers creative crafts, board and card games, billiards, bowling, golf, doll making, music and performing arts. Further, its staff promote health, fitness and wellness programs, including aerobics, dance and walking clubs. Located at 4300 Anacostia Avenue, NE, local organizations and PSAs meet at the facility regularly. The center's program director is Janice Wright and she can be reached at (202) 727-5440 or janice.wright@dc.gov.

Center amenities include a new professional track for walking and running, a new football field, a lighted baseball diamond, tennis courts and racquetball court.  It also boasts a computer lab, basketball gymnasium, lighted soccer field, a senior center and multi-purpose room, an outdoor swimming pool and two age-appropriate playgrounds.

The Rec is also home to Early Care and Education: (202) 727-5439 and a popular senior program: (202) 727-8934.

Built in the 1970s, The Rec expects to undergo major remodeling.
